Lettuce - Merveille Des Quatre Saisons

This weekend I went to a local farmers market to get some Hawaiian fish (opakapaka) for lunch and I happened to pass by this organic vegetable stand that had a beautiful lettuce that looked so georgous. The following is a picture that I found on the web that closely resembled what I saw.

I wanted to purchase it for lunch but unfortunately it was sold out. That made me more determined to grow it myself. I plan to thin the seedlings so I can encourage the development of the whole head lettuce, a beautiful red bibb-type rosette, as opposed to the following leaf lettuce that I have planted so far. So here is what I planted yesterday, Marvel_Of_Four_Seasons lettuce seed in an old half-barrel wine container.

Here is the leaf lettuce that I planted in old half-barrel wine container a few weeks ago.
