Lettuce & kale

This morning the temperature was in the low 50's, that's pretty nippy for Southern Cal. It's perfect for picking peas, the cold weather seems to bring out their sweetness. I also picked some lettuce, baby kale and one radish for dinner. The lettuce is so fresh that I was thinking if I can get these to local chefs they might make a fanstatic salad dish.

I inspected the collard bed and it turned out what I thought was a collard plant was actually a kohlrabi plant.

See the bulbing up of the stem below

Hence, I had to sow some seeds for collards and swiss chard in a hurry. I don't know if they will come up in time for Thanksgiving but I think I will have plenty of lettuce and peas for vegetables.
