Summer Harvest - 2009

Picture of my Charleston Grey watermelon dated July 24. It's the one on the left side. In July, this melon is still young enough to hang on the fence.

The second picture of the same melon in early Aug. It's now sitting on a stack of hay.

This picture was taken in late Aug. I think I will pick this watermelon this weekend, watering has been turned off for 4-5 weeks.

Here are the 2 pictures of my favorite Charentais melon, a French melon type that is really fragant when it's ripening. I'm going to pick this melon in a few days. These pictures were taking in early Aug.

Close up, isn't it a beauty!

Further out

Watering has been turned off for nearly 3 to 4 weeks, hoping for the melon to ripen and be very sweet. I'm planning to pick this melon in a few days when I can smell a distinct fragance. Right now the dead leaves are not too pretty.

Stay tuned for the taste test!
